The "NMR-Fan-Projekt" goes to Internet.

This is a html page for our NMR FAN project. Documents, like schematics or descriptions, may be downloaded, for layouts you can ask. But what is the NMR FAN project at all?

About four years ago Dr. Berger, head of the NMR service in our chemistry department, came to us both with a problem and a suggestion. In his NMR instruments (all from Bruker company) are some 100 fans rotating (or not...). Even a "Papst" fan does not rotate forever, and most of NMR breakdowns can be traced back to stuck fans. Therefore Dr. Berger asked us to develop a fan control and showed us a suggestion communicated by Prof. F. H. Köhler, Technical University of Munich. Our task was to develop a unit designed for the four NMR instruments of our department (AMX-500, AM-400, AC-300, ARX-200). On the 31st of March 1994, after 574 working days, we had a first working solution installed. Those who want to repeat this should know the hot end of the soldering gun and have some money, since for one NMR instrument with about 30 fans you need about $500.

In this Internet project we show schematics, short descriptions and some photographs. The Layouts were created with Eagle 3.0 of CAD-Soft, Pleiskirchen. Via email to us you can ask for more information or HPGL files.

This is an ongoing project for future NMR instruments, and it is possible that we will present an entirely new concept. Feel free to improve our ideas and keep us informed.
